Motorcycle collision sends two motorcyclists to hospitals

In Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, it is a common knowledge that riding a motorcycle is riskier than driving a car. Still, many motorcycle enthusiasts and veteran riders continue to ride their motorcycles because doing so brings them a unique sense of freedom that they cannot find when driving a four-wheeled vehicle. However, motorcycle riders should be careful when travelling on the road. They should always wear protective gear and follow the state's traffic rules and regulations, which can prevent the motorcycle collisions that often result in injuries and fatalities.

Recently, two men, aged 42 and 48 years old, were taken to two different hospitals after their motorcycles collided in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma. Based on a report, the 42-year-old motorcyclist and the 48-year-old motorcyclist were both heading north on U.S. Highway 59 when the collision occurred. The first motorcyclist crashed, causing the rider to lay his motorcycle on its side. The second motorcyclist, following directly behind the first motorcyclist, ended up crashing into the first motorcycle as it lay on the road. According to troopers, the second motorcyclist was travelling at an unsafe speed, which may have prevented him from avoiding the collision. The report indicated that neither rider was wearing a helmet during the collision. Both riders sustained serious injuries, but were later reported in stable condition.

Anyone who is involved in a similar accident needs to understand that each party's contribution to the crash will be thoroughly investigated by authorities. The party who initiated the crash may be cited, charged or face civil liability if he or she is found to be negligent in causing the accident.

Recovering from a motorcycle accident can be difficult, depending on the injuries sustained in the crash. Medical treatments such as surgery, therapy and rehabilitation can be costly. Fortunately, a motorcycle accident victim may be entitled to an award of damages through a personal injury lawsuit. The lawsuit would require the victim to prove that the defendant's negligence directly caused the accident that led to his or her injuries.
