Unfortunately, anyone may become the victim of a car accident which is why it is important to be familiar with legal options that protect SUV accident victims. A serious SUV accident recently claimed the life of one person and injured several others an hour and a half south of Oklahoma City. According to authorities, 13 motorcycles were traveling around a curve in the highway when an SUV crossed the center line, striking five of the motorcyclists.
One victim, a 53-year old man, died at the scene, and another 3 victims were airlifted to the hospital and 4 additional victims were taken by ambulance to the hospital. One police officer noted the accident was the worst involving motorcycles he had ever seen.
Medical care, treatment costs and expenses can be severe following an unexpected car accident with an SUV. Unfortunately, SUV accidents, including those versus motorcycles, can also result in death. Injured victims and loved ones of victims may need resources to help them following a SUV, motorcycle or other type of car accident.
In addition to medical expenses victims may, depending on the circumstances, also suffer lost wages, lost earning capacity and pain and suffering damages. Loved ones of victims may encounter funeral expenses, the loss of support and services, lost inheritance and damages related to pain and suffering. The combination of physical, financial and emotional damages suffered following an SUV or other car accident may be overwhelming to victims and seem difficult to overcome.
Because a car accident can change the lives of victims and their loved ones in an instant, it is important that victims are aware that legal protections exist to ensure they do not continue to suffer following a car or SUV accident. Victims and family members of victims have options available to hold negligent drivers responsible for the damages.
