The knowledge that the loss was unnecessarily caused by the careless and negligent actions of another party can render an already devastating situation more difficult.

Surviving family members, including spouses and children, may experience understandable emotional struggles following the unexpected loss of a loved one, but may also face unexpected financial challenges as well. The legal process is designed around an acknowledgement of the struggles and harm surviving family members of a lost loved one wrongfully killed may experience and face following the loss.

Legal options, such as a wrongful death claim, may allow surviving family members to recover damages based on the circumstances and characteristics of the victim. It is common for legal citations or charges to be used to establish that a party was negligent in causing a car accident. Based on the party’s negligence, the party may be liable to compensate surviving family members for the damages they have suffered. The legal process strives to offer protections and support for families of lost loved ones wrongfully killed by holding the negligent party that caused the accident responsible for the harm victims and their families suffer.
