Court case resolved in Oklahoma City drunk driving accident

On Behalf of | Mar 18, 2016 | Car Accidents

Tragically, drunk drivers cause accidents that result in injuries, death and harm to victims. The trial for a man accused of killing three people in an Oklahoma City drunk driving accident was recently halted when the man pleaded guilty to three counts of manslaughter. The family of two of the victims expressed relief but noted that the conclusion of the trial did not relieve the pain they have endured.

A man, his girlfriend and the couple’s 22-month-old daughter were killed in the drunk driving accident. The man responsible was arrested on suspicion of DUI and was charged with manslaughter and driving without a valid driver’s license.

Victims of drunk driving accidents can suffer unthinkable difficulties and challenges following unexpected car accidents. Because of the extensive nature of the struggles victims may face, they may be able to recover compensation for the physical, financial and emotional damages they have suffered through a personal injury or wrongful death claim. Generally, liability for damages following a drunk driving accident can be based on criminal charges, a criminal conviction or citation associated with a drunk driving car accident.

When a drunk driver has injured family members and loved ones, the legal system provides different options to help ensure that those responsible for the accident are held accountable. As a result, victims of drunk driving accidents should be familiar with the legal resources available to aid and protect them.
