Country music fans in Oklahoma and throughout the nation are likely familiar with the work of superstar Blake Shelton. What some may not know, however, is that Shelton suffered a great personal loss when he was age 14 and his big brother died in a motor vehicle collision. The pain and sorrow of that situation developed into Shelton’s compassion for others as their mourn loved ones lost in fatal car accidents.
Following a recent tragedy that involved three high school students, Shelton sent a video of himself to the school as way of reaching out to comfort those who are grieving. In his video, he says he knows what it is like to lose someone unexpectedly and that faith in God and belief that those who died are in a better place may comfort them as they move beyond their grief. Shelton said healing takes time but it is possible.
The accident that resulted in three fatalities occurred when a single vehicle somehow careened off the road and smashed into a nearby tree. Sadly, all occupants of the car died upon impact. Support networks have been set up at the students’ school to help friends, family and staff members cope with their great loss.
Beyond the grief that accompanies car accidents resulting in death, as this one did in Oklahoma, litigation sometimes follows as well when it is believed that a motorist’s negligence caused the accident to occur. Grieving families often endure undue financial crisis associated with their family members’ deaths. Successful litigation can provide compensation to help offset such expenses.
