In large metropolitan locations such as Oklahoma City, there is no shortage of construction projects underway. Though the vast majority of these projects are completed without any major delays or work-related injuries, the potential always exist for a serious accident that can cause workers to suffer injuries that require extended time off of work. Recently, officials and first responders were called to the scene of a construction accident. First responders were under the impression that a wall had collapsed at a local business. However, upon arrival, it was discovered that workers were attempting to move large construction beams through the use of a forklift. During the process, one of these beams somehow became dislodged from the restraints and struck one of the workers.
Emergency crews performed CPR on the victim at the scene. He was then transported to a nearby medical center for treatment of undisclosed injuries. He was listed in critical condition after admittance. It is unclear what his prognosis for recovery is at this time.
It is likely that this construction accident will be thoroughly investigated by Oklahoma officials. In the meantime, the injured worker will likely endure a long and arduous recovery, during which he will be unable to return to his work duties.
