On Behalf of | Sep 6, 2018 | Car Accidents

Oklahoma City police are in the process of investigating a wreck that left one person critically injured. This event happened the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 31. The victim of this incident may be entitled to seek compensation for his or her losses if negligence can be established against the other driver or anyone else deemed responsible for the crash. As the damages associated with car accidents can be quite extensive, seeking relief is certainly worth the victim’s and his or her family members time.

According to a recent news report, the drivers of a sedan and SUV were both traveling in the same direction on the Broadway Extension in North Oklahoma City when they collided. At this time it is unclear if one or both drivers swerved to avoid hitting a cooler that was left in the road. Authorities do believe that the attempt to avoid striking the cooler is what led to this crash. The driver of the sedan was severely hurt and transported to a hospital for care. This individual’s current condition is unknown.

The SUV involved in this wreck was actually one of the governor’s assigned cars. The governor was not in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The trooper driving the SUV was uninjured in the collision.

At this time, no charges have been filed in this case and authorities have not stated if any charges are expected or if any citations have been issued. If the driver of the SUV is believed at fault in any way, the victim or his or her family members may pursue damages by filing civil claims against the driver and his or her employer. Compensation for personal injury cases stemming from car accidents may be achieved through out-of-court settlement negotiations or litigation.
