Trooper evades crash, releases video to show dangerous act

Sometimes, near-misses are the almost-crashes people need to witness to become better drivers. It’s a wake-up call to pay attention and to follow the rules of the road.

For example, a case out of Oklahoma could have ended badly, but fortunately, no one got hurt. The Oklahoma State trooper who was involved in the near-miss took the time to report it to explain the risks drivers take when they’re not driving safely.

According to the news, it was around 5:00 p.m., when the trooper was traveling over a highway hill. As his vehicle crested, he saw a semi heading toward him in the same lane. As if that was not enough of a shock, it was obvious that the semi was trying to pass illegally. The area was a no-passing zone.

With smaller vehicles in the correct lane, the semi had no way of merging back to safety. That nearly resulted in the trooper getting into a crash with the truck. Fortunately, he was able to move into the shoulder, preventing the crash. Perhaps surprisingly, the trooper then had to do a U-turn to pull over the driver. While the driver was polite to the officer, he was still cited for driving left of center in a no-passing zone.

The officer posted the video online, where it has gathered thousands of views. It shows how quickly one mistake could become life-threatening for drivers.

If you’re struck by a driver taking risks like passing in no-passing zones, stand up for yourself. You have a right to seek the compensation you need for your injuries.
